Google has raised the minimum RAM requirement: Ultra-budget users will no longer be able to install Android 13 and GMS

Every year the amount of RAM in Android smartphones grows more and more. And for good reason. It has become known that Google has raised the minimum requirements for devices that want to upgrade to Android 13 and use the branded services of GMS.

What's New?

So, starting with Android 13, a smartphone will need at least 2GB of RAM and 16GB of built-in memory to run Google's GMS apps. This applies even to Android Go devices, which typically target budget phones with low RAM.

Of course, there are still older ultra-budget Android Go devices released with just 1GB of RAM. But they're few in number, as 1GB isn't enough even for basic use, and they're unlikely to count on Android 13. So this news won't change the market for entry-level Android phones much.
