After 10 years: Google ends support for Android 4.4 KitKat
The Android 4.4 operating system, sweetly named KitKat, was launched in 2013. It's been 10 years - and Google has announced that Android 4.4 KitKat is no longer supported.

From August 2023, devices with Android 4.4 KitKat will stop receiving updates to Google Play services, which can lead to limited functionality or even stop running apps altogether. Therefore, owners of gadgets with an outdated version of the operating system better upgrade.
According to Google, the number of active devices with Android 4.4 KitKat is less than 1%. But considering that Android's reach is about 3 billion gadgets, 1% is 30 million smartphones, tablets and other devices.
In 2021, Google stopped supporting Android 4.1 - 4.3.1 Jelly Bean version of Android 4.1. Now the Android 5.0 Lollipop version, released in 2014, is next in line.
