Google continues to develop its operating system and recently released Android 15 Developer Preview 2. This version is designed for developers and those who like to experiment with new features. Regular users are advised not to install this version on their devices.

Here's What's New About It

One of the new features is a larger text size when entering a PIN on the lock screen. Inbuilt support for app archiving has also been added. If you run out of space on your phone, you can archive apps to the cloud. This feature is especially useful when you want to install new firmware updates but you don't have enough space.

Google has also improved the video quality in webcam mode for Pixel smartphones. An HD option is now available, which provides much better video quality. You can switch this feature on or off right from the preview screen.

Android 15 Developer Preview 2 has also made improvements to Bluetooth LE Auracast. In the Connected Devices menu in settings, there's now an Audio Sharing feature. When you turn it on, people with Bluetooth headphones or speakers can connect to Bluetooth Auracast and listen to audio playing on the device.

Google has also added a satellite messaging feature to the Messages app. More app developers will be able to use the new KeyEvent to open the emoji selection tool. There's also a "Swipe up to continue" option that will help users continue using the app they've been using on the folded screen (when they close the phone) on the top screen.

The new version of Android 15 also contains various bug fixes, including one that caused the Google Play Store to repeatedly crash. It also fixes a bug that caused the package manager to crash when installing an APK file from an unknown source. It has also fixed crashes related to Fingerprint in Work Mode and Android System Intelligence.
