Chinese manufacturer Huawei, once the world market leader in smartphones, announced the software EMUI 13.

Here's What We Know

The presentation of EMUI 13 can be called unexpected, as there was no information about the upcoming premiere. But on the other hand, Huawei has not paid much attention to the global version of the branded software for a long time.

EMUI 13 is aimed at smartphones that are sold outside of China and do not run on the proprietary HarmonyOS operating system. At the same time, the new build has received some of the features of HarmonyOS 3.0. For example, most of the graphical interface elements.

The shell functionality has also been extended. Drag to Share lets users select text with a long press, select files or images and send them to the SuperHub clipboard. From there, the user can send materials anywhere in any way they want.

The developers added SuperStorage function that allows to free up to 20 GB of storage space by compressing data and deleting unused files. Another innovation of EMUI 13 is Audio Projection. The feature gives you the ability to broadcast sound from your smartphone to two connected devices. The company showed a slide showing the Huawei Mate 50 Pro with FreeBuds Pro 2 headphones connected. Whether the feature will work with accessories from other brands is not yet known.

EMUI 13 could turn the smartphone into a control center for the Huawei ecosystem. Users will be able to use laptops, smart watches and headphones using only the phone. In addition, the new firmware has the ability to monitor which applications have access to personal data.

Apparently, EMUI 13 is built on the Android 13 operating system, although the OS version is not mentioned on the official Huawei website. A list of smartphones that will receive the update is not yet available.
