Cake Aik, a cargo electric bike with the range of a Tesla Model S for $6470
The company Cake from Sweden has announced an electric bicycle that has the range of a Tesla Model S car. But this requires the installation of additional batteries.
Here's What We Know
Our hero is called Åik. It is an electric cargo bicycle. At the same time in the United States, it has been equated to Class 2, which means that you do not need a driver's license to operate the vehicle.
Åik has an aluminum frame and allows you to adjust the height of both the seat and handlebars. The bike is equipped with a 750 watt-hour battery, which provides a range of about 120 km. However, two batteries can be attached to the back, which will allow it to travel 360 km. This is comparable to an older Model S with a 60 kWh battery pack.
The Åik can reach a speed of 32 km/h thanks to a 500-watt motor. But this applies to the U.S. version. In Europe, it will sell a more modest version - 25 km/h and 250 watts respectively. The maximum payload is 80 kg. The bike itself weighs 30 kg.
Price & When We Can Expect It
The Åik will cost $6470 in the United States. In Europe, the bike will cost a little more - €6470 ($6890). Sales will start in May.
