MediaTek Dimensity 7200: Processor for mid-range devices with a focus on gaming and photography

Taiwanese manufacturer MediaTek has unexpectedly announced a new processor for its Dimensity range.

Here's What We Know

The chip has been named MediaTek Dimensity 7200. Like the flagship Dimensity 9200 processor, it is built on a four-nanometer N4P process. According to the manufacturer, the SoC is designed for mid-budget smartphones with a focus on gaming capabilities and photography.

The Dimensity 7200 gets two 2.8GHz Cortex-A715 cores and six Cortex-A510 cores. The novelty has Mali G610 MC4 graphics for visual effects processing. The chip supports Full HD display up to 144Hz as well as HDR10+, CUVA HDR and Dolby HDR. The processor is shipped with the proprietary HyperEngine 5.0 technology. In addition, the novelty supports UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 RAM.

A 14-bit ISP-module with support for capturing 4K HDR video, as well as support modules with a resolution of up to 200 MP are responsible for the camera. Apart from that, the novelty has Bluetooth 5.3, Dual SIM 5G, Wi-Fi 6E and an APU module for processing AI functions.

When We Can Expect It

The first smartphones based on the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 will be available in the first quarter of the year.
