Framework Laptop 16: a modular laptop for gamers with the ability to replace any part
Framework, renowned for its highly repairable devices, has introduced the modular Framework Laptop 16.
Details
It's a high-performance model for gamers that gives you the ability to modify your laptop according to your needs. Component manufacturers can create modules in different sizes to connect to the laptop. For example, it is possible to connect additional storage capacity and a modular GPU.
To achieve this, the Framework Laptop has six slots for I/O expansion cards. In addition, the Input Module system supports hot-swapping of the keyboard and touchpad. For example, you can move the standard keyboard slightly and add a number pad, as well as move the touchpad to the left or right.
Framework traditionally publishes source code and component documentation for enthusiasts.
Other details are unfortunately not yet available. How much the Framework Laptop 16 will cost is also unclear. The laptop will go on sale in late 2023, with pre-orders starting in the spring.
In addition, the company has updated its Framework Laptop 13. The major innovations include a choice of Intel Core 13th Gen or AMD Ryzen 7040 processors, an increased battery to 61Wh, a matte display, improved hinges and speakers. This model is priced from $850 (self-assembly kit) and $1,050 (assembled).
