MediaTek unveils Dimensity 8050 3GHz mobile chip with TSMC N6 process technology
MediaTek has announced a new mid-range mobile processor. The chip is named Dimensity 8050.
Here's What We Know
In general, the Dimensity 8050 is not different from the previously introduced Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1300 single-chip systems, i.e. it is clear what it is in terms of performance. The chipset is equipped with a 5G modem and manufactured using TSMC 6N (6nm) technology.
The processor has a "standard" architecture. Thus, the Dimensity 8050 is equipped with four Cortex-A55 cores and four Cortex-A78 cores. However, the "big cluster" has three Performance Core and one Super Core. The frequencies are 2.6 GHz and 3 GHz respectively.
The new single-chip system supports up to 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. In smartphones based on Dimensity 8050 we can see Full HD+ screens with a frame refresh rate of 168 Hz, 200 MP cameras and support for 4K UHD. The graphics subsystem is represented by Mali-G77 GPU.
The first smartphone based on the new processor is Tecno Camon Premier 20. Sales launch date has not been specified yet.
