GoPro has unveiled a new action camera. The model is characterised by improved autonomy and is called GoPro Hero 12 Black.

Here's What We Know

The camera is equipped with a 1/1.9" image sensor. GoPro Hero 12 Black has got support for 5.3K video recording at 60 FPS and 4K ULTRA HD with HDR. Max HyperSmooth stabilisation system is now available in all video settings.

According to the manufacturer, the model can run for 1 hour and 10 minutes in 5.3@60FPS mode. When shooting in FHD@30FPS, the camera runs for more than 2.5 hours. The company also notes that the overall battery life has roughly doubled compared to the GoPro Hero 11 Black action camera, which was unveiled last September.

Another new feature of the GoPro Hero 12 Black is the addition of support for Bluetooth devices. You can connect microphones and headphones to the action camera. For example, Apple AirPods. You can record sound directly from external gadgets connected wirelessly.

The design of the new generation camera has not changed in comparison with GoPro Hero 11 Black. At the same time, the standard tripod mount (1/4-20) became an important innovation. Also note the presence of two LCD screens and water resistance (up to 10 metres).

Price & When We Can Expect It

The GoPro Hero 12 Black is priced at $399. The presence of a subscription does not affect the price. The new action camera is already available for pre-order and open sales will start on 13 September 2023.

Along with the GoPro Hero 12 Black action camera, a new Max Lens Mod 2.0 will be released. It increases the field of view from 155° to 177°. Max Lens Mod 2.0 can be used when shooting in different formats up to 4K@60FPS.
