Not for everyone: Nokia has unveiled the Nokia HHRA501x and Nokia IS540.1 industrial rugged smartphones
Nokia has unexpectedly unveiled two new smartphones - Nokia HHRA501x and Nokia IS540.1. It is Nokia, not HMD Global. However, these gadgets are not for everyone and are unlikely to be sold in shops.
Here's What We Know
Nokia HHRA501x and Nokia IS540.1 are industrial smartphones with a focus on ruggedness. They have water and dust protection (IP68) and are MIL-STD-810H compliant. They recognise finger presses while wearing gloves, have removable batteries and a 16-pin connector for connecting accessories.
In addition, both phones have undergone rigorous testing. They have been approved as meeting connectivity requirements for industries such as mining, oil and gas and chemical. They can also be safely used in hazardous locations.
The Nokia IS540.1 features a 6-inch screen with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, a dual-core Qualcomm QCM6490 chip, 8/128GB of storage, 5 MP front camera, 48 MP main camera and a 4400 mAh battery.
The Nokia IS540.1 bears similarities to the Nokia 800 Tough, but with some improvements and a new logo.
Other details about the novelties are unfortunately not available. Their prices are also unknown.
