Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 competitor: MediaTek has unveiled its flagship Dimensity 9300 processor
MediaTek, following Qualcomm, has announced its new flagship processor for mobile devices.
Here's What We Know
The chip has been named Dimensity 9300. The SoC is based on the third-generation 4nm+ TSMC process technology. Its distinguishing feature is its multi-core design: a single Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.25GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores clocked at 2.85GHz and four Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 2.0GHz based on Armv9 architecture.
MediaTek claims that the peak performance of the Dimensity 9300 is 40 per cent higher than last year's Dimensity 9200, while consuming 33 per cent less power. The Dimensity 9300 comes with a 12-core Immortalis-G720 MC13 graphics module with hardware ray tracing, delivering a 46% boost over its predecessor and consuming 40% less power. The Dimensity 9300 also supports LPDDR5T RAM at 9600 Mbps and UFS 4.0 storage with multi-threaded queueing (MCQ) support.
AI tasks are handled by the APU 790, which supports generative artificial intelligence with stable defusion generation in less than 1 second and support for LLMs with up to 33 billion parameters. The Dimesnity 9300 supports screens with resolutions up to WQHD and 180Hz refresh rates, as well as dual-active displays for foldable devices. Image capture is handled by the Imagiq 990 ISP with HDR enabled at all times. The ISP can process 8K video at 30 fps or 4K at 30/60 fps with cinematic mode and real-time bokeh.
When We Can Expect It
The first devices based on the Dimensity 9300 chip will be available in the coming days.
