Qualcomm, a month after the release of its flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, has announced a new mid-range processor.

Here's What We Know

The novelty was named Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. From the name we can assume that this is the successor to Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2, but in terms of characteristics the novelty is located between these SoC. The chip is built on a 4-nanometre process. It has a 1+3+4 cluster. That is, one core with a frequency of 2.63 GHz, 3 cores at 2.4 GHz and 4 cores at 1.8 GHz. According to the manufacturer, Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 received a 15% improved CPU and 50% more powerful GPU (compared to the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip). Also, the novelty is 20% more energy efficient.

Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 comes with Snapdragon X63 5G modem, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The chip supports displays with resolutions up to 4K (60 Hz) or up to FHD+ (168 Hz). The new product is equipped with a Spectra ISP module that supports cameras up to 200 MP.

When We Can Expect It

The first smartphones based on Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 will appear this month. These will be Honor and vivo devices.
