At CES 2024, Japanese company AromaJoin unveiled the Aroma Speaker 60, the first speaker that plays not only sounds but also smells.

Details

Developers do not disclose all the details about the equipment and operation of the speaker, but it is known that modules with cartridges are installed inside. Most likely, they contain essential oils or special blends. A total of 60 basic aromas are available, which are distributed at a distance of up to 2 metres.

Moreover, there are both pleasant scents and unpleasant odours: for example, caramel, flowers and even city smog. Yanko Design journalists who visited the exhibition and tested the speaker say that the scents are not 100% accurate, but quite distinct.

The sound quality is also on the high side, but details about the audio component are not disclosed.

Aroma Speaker 60 is not yet worth waiting for on sale - most likely, the developers brought the speaker to the exhibition to demonstrate the technology and possibly attract investment, as well as developers and manufacturers to create an ecosystem.
