Not just USB-C: Apple has added 48kHz Lossless Audio support and IP54 protection to the new version of AirPods Pro 2
At the Wonderlust launch event on 12 September, Apple showed the updated AirPods Pro 2 with a USB-C port. As it turned out, this is not the only innovation of the earbuds.
Here's What We Know
The new version of AirPods Pro 2 also got support for 20-bit, 48kHz Lossless Audio. Unfortunately, the innovation will only work with the Vision Pro headset, which is scheduled to debut in the US early next year. Apple claims that the H2 chip in the AirPods Pro 2, which is also present in the Vision Pro, allows Lossless Audio transmission, but it's strange that this feature wasn't implemented in last year's model with a Lighting port.
Another new feature is improved water protection. It's now IP54, instead of IPX4. The headphones also got Adaptive Audio, Personalised Volume and Conversation Awareness features. Other features of the device, including battery life, have not changed.
