Apple iPad 9: affordable tablet with iPhone 11-like A13 Bionic chip and iPad Pro-like camera for $329

Apple kicked off today's presentation with a surprise announcement: while many were harping on that the new tablets would debut later at a separate event, the Cupertinians took and unveiled the iPad 9th generation today.

What's new?

It's still an affordable tablet designed, primarily for learning. It retains the same design with large bezels around the screen and a round Home button. It uses a 10.2-inch Retina display with TrueTone, where brightness automatically adjusts to ambient light and  doesn't hit eyes as hard.

Of course, the proprietary M1 processor is only a dream for the new iPad, so it's based on the A13 Bionic chip, which is also used in the 2019 iPhone 11 lineup. The result promises a performance boost of up to 20%. The tablet runs the iPadOS 15 operating system.

They also changed the front camera. It is 12-megapixel sensor with ultra-wide-angle lens with viewing angle of 122 degrees. It gets its Central Stage feature from its big brother the iPad Pro, where the camera automatically tracks the person in the frame and focuses on while shooting video or video chatting .

They also increased the amount of built-in memory - in base version it is 64 GB.

The new iPad supports the Apple Pencil stylus, Smart Keyboard and third-party accessories.

The iPad 9 is priced from $329, with a choice of grey and silver colors available at . Pre-orders are open as of today, and the tablet will go on sale next week.
