France has approved an update Apple developed to reduce radiation levels in the iPhone 12
A few weeks ago, France's National Agency for Frequencies (Agence nationale des frequences, ANFR) banned sales of the iPhone 12 and called on Apple to recall every iPhone12 it had ever sold in the country. The problem was elevated levels of radiation. That problem now appears to have been resolved.
Here's What We Know
What is interesting is that the elevated radiation was not observed at the time of the iPhone 12's launch in 2020, but was observed over time. This seems to be the result of successive software updates released by Apple.
Apple acknowledged the problem and said it would be able to fix it with a new software update. That said - done. According to Reuters, regulators in France have approved an Apple update designed to reduce radiation levels.
There are no details yet, but it's likely that Apple will release the update soon and will be able to resume iPhone 12 sales in France.
