Apple has announced watchOS 10, the operating system update for the Apple Watch smart watch.

Here's What's New About It

There aren't many changes, but they do help improve the interaction with the watch.

  • Along with watchOS 10, widgets are back on the Apple Watch. Simply spin the Digital Crown wheel to reveal a stack of widgets below the watch face. They change according to the user's needs at any time of day.
  • There are two new dials: the Palette and an animated Peanuts dial with Snoopy and Woodstock.
  • The World Clock app now uses background colours to reflect the time of day in different time zones.
  • The Activity app has been updated with the addition of corner icons for navigation, a redesigned trophy box and a new full-screen view of each individual activity ring.
  • New cycling workout features added: functional threshold power, power zones, full screen mode on iPhone, etc.
  • The Mindfulness app has learned how to track mood.
  • The Health app has learned to measure how much time you spend in daylight, as well as your screen distance. This should help reduce the risk of myopia.

The update is compatible with the Apple Watch Series 4 and later versions. In addition, users will need an iPhone that supports iOS 17. The first beta version of watchOS 10 became available to developers immediately after the presentation.
