The US has approved the sale of dozens of AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, 7,650 APKWS=II smart bomb kits and thousands of AGM-114R2 Hellfire, AGM-179A JAGM, Stinger missiles worth $12bn to Poland
The US Congress will consider the sale of AH-64E Apache attack helicopters, ammunition and equipment to Poland. The potential deal has been approved by the US State Department.
Here's What We Know
The Polish government wants to purchase up to 96 modernised AH-64E Apache attack helicopters. The potential deal also includes dozens of radars, 210 T700-GE-701D engines (192 + 18 spare) and related equipment.
Of separate note is the armament. Together with the AH-64E Apache, Poland plans to receive dozens of sets of equipment for creating smart aerial bombs, as well as air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles. In particular, we are talking about the following items:
- 7650 WGU-59/B APKWS=II;
- 508 Stinger 92K Block I;
- 460 AGM-179A Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM);
- 96 M36E8 Hellfire (training missiles);
- 1,844 AGM-114R2 Hellfire.
The amount of the potential contract is estimated at $12bn. The US Congress has 30 days to consider the deal and approve or reject it. It is possible that the agreement will be amended.
