Indonesia buys 24 Sikorsky S-70M Black Hawk helicopters along with F-15EX Eagle II fighter jets
A few days ago we wrote about Indonesia's desire to purchase 24 F-15EX Eagle II fighters. The Asian country is also interested in Sikorsky S-70M Black Hawk helicopters.
Here's What We Know
Sikorsky, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin, has entered into a strategic partnership agreement with Indonesian aerospace firm PT Dirgantara Indonesia. Jakarta will be able to purchase up to 24 Sikorsky S-70M Black Hawk helicopters.
The agreement demonstrates the mutual interest of the two companies in supplying Black Hawk for Indonesia's security needs. This was announced by Jeff White, vice president of global business development at Sikorsky.
The Sikorsky S-70M Black Hawk can quickly and reliably transport personnel as well as deliver supplies to geographically dispersed populations in Indonesia. The US company's helicopter is designed and built to the most stringent military standards.
The agreement was formalised during a visit by Indonesian Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto () to the US to meet with US defence and industry officials. As with the F-15EX Eagle II, the value of a potential contract for the Sikorsky S-70M Black Hawk was not specified.
