Massive strikes on airfields and military bases force Russia to camouflage Tu-95MS nuclear bombers
Russians have begun to think about how to protect military equipment on their own territory. In particular, at airfields and airbases.
Here's What We Know
The possibility of strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation makes Russians pay attention to the protection of their own military equipment. At the Engels-2 military airbase, Tu-95MS nuclear bombers dressed in camouflage pattern. It will protect strategic aircraft in the infrared spectrum from cruise missiles.
Note that in August 2023, several objects on the territory of Russia were under attack. On the night of 30 August, kamikaze drones attacked an airport in the Pskov region, where four Il-76 military transport planes were destroyed. Earlier, drones destroyed a Tu-22M3 missile bomber in the Novgorod region and damaged the same aircraft in the Kaluga region.
Speaking of the Engels-2 base, it is about 500 kilometres from the border with Ukraine. Nearby is the Engels-1 base, where Tu-95MS and Tu-160 nuclear bombers were stationed. The missiles that are in service with the Ukrainian Defence Forces will not reach here. However, last December, the Engels-1 base was attacked by kamikaze drones.
