The Portuguese government has decided to buy Lockheed P-3 Orion anti-ship aircraft from Germany.

Here's What We Know

The information appeared on the Portuguese government website. Germany has already authorised the sale. We are talking about a contract for 45,000,000 euros. It will include six aircraft in the P-3C CUP modification, spare parts, simulators, a test stand and a static aircraft for exercises. Flashback

Lockheed P-3 Orion is an American patrol and anti-submarine aircraft. It was developed in the late 1950s by Lockheed Martin. The aircraft was based on the Lockheed L-188 Electra and is essentially its military modification. The P-3 Orion is in service with the United States, Japan and other countries. The P-3C CUP is a modified version of the original P-3C. The aircraft has an increased airframe life, updated avionics, as well as external sensors and missile warning systems.
