Poland will be able to buy almost a hundred Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopters. The deal was approved by the US Congress.

Here's What We Know

In late August, the US State Department approved the potential sale of 96 Boeing AH-64E Apache Guardian helicopters, engines, equipment and ammunition to Poland. About two weeks later, the deal was approved by the US Congress. This was announced by Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak.

The head of the defence ministry did not specify the details of the deal. However, the website of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) indicated that Poland had requested the purchase of missiles and equipment to create smart bombs:

  • 7650 WGU-59/B APKWS-II;
  • 508 Stinger 92K Block I;
  • 460 AGM-179A Joint Air-to-Ground Missile (JAGM);
  • 96 M36E8 Hellfire (training missiles);
  • 1844 AGM-114R2 Hellfire.

The European country also ordered dozens of radars, 210 T700-GE-701D propulsion systems and related equipment. The potential sale was worth $12bn, but it is not yet clear whether the US Congress has made any changes to the deals.
