American fighter jets will appear on the territory of Romania in the near future. This was announced by the Ministry of Defence of the country.
Here's What We Know
On the Romanian land were found fragments of another Russian drone. The information was officially confirmed by the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis. He has already informed NATO about it.
The US Air Force will send fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters to Romania. The aircraft will support NATO's mission to patrol the European country's airspace. At the same time, neither the US State Department nor the Romanian Defence Ministry specify how the F-16s will act in case of a Russian drone detection.
Russian UAVs have been downed twice on Romanian territory this week. On Monday, Ukraine reported a UAV exploding on its neighbour's territory. It happened during an attack on grain infrastructure in the Odessa region.
Initially, Romanian authorities denied the claims of drones falling and exploding on their territory. However, on Wednesday, the government officially announced the discovery of drone fragments.
