The U.S. Air Force will receive the long-awaited Boeing T-7A Red Hawk aircraft next week
Boeing has been making the T-7A Red Hawk aircraft for several years. The first aircraft will be handed over to the US Air Force in a few days.
Here's What We Know
The T-7A Red Hawk is a training aircraft, the development of which began several years ago. Due to discovered deficiencies, deliveries were postponed several times. Last spring, it became known that the US Air Force may invest in older T-38 Talon aircraft from Northrop Corporation to extend their service life.
On 19 September 2023, the US Air Force could officially receive the first T-7A Red Hawk. Boeing will deliver two more aircraft in mid-autumn, and the service will receive a total of five T-7As by the end of 2023.
The aircraft handed over in 2023 will allow operational testing to begin and move into the evaluation process. The events will take place at Eglin, Florida, and Edwards, California, U.S. Air Force bases.
In the summer of 2023, Boeing reported the first flight of the T-7A Red Hawk. Under the 2018 contract, the U.S. Air Force plans to purchase 46 simulators and 351-475 aircraft. The cost of the entire programme could exceed $10 billion.
