The US Air Force has received the first T-7A Red Hawk aircraft. As part of the first batch, Boeing will deliver five air platforms to the military service.

Here's What We Know

In a press release, the US Air Force said that the five T-7A Red Hawk for design, production and development will quickly move on to testing and join two aircraft owned by contractors. The latter have already flown more than 500 flights to assess flight qualities and performance. The service has also completed test readiness checks.

The contract for the T-7A was awarded in September 2018. The aircraft are being built by the US company Boeing Defence, Space and Security. The agreement calls for the delivery of an integrated system of 351 aircraft, 46 ground training systems and associated support equipment.

The US Air Force says the Red Hawk will provide a significant leap in pilot training to maintain tactical superiority against evolving threats. The T-7A will be the replacement for the older T-38 Talon aircraft.
