Russians have drawn nuclear-capable Tu-95MS bombers at Engels airbase to protect strategic aircraft from Ukrainian drones
Russians continue to look for ways to protect strategic aircraft in view of the increasing number of strikes against military facilities on Russian territory. Drawing has come to the rescue.
Here's What We Know
Satellite images show that the images of Tu-95MS nuclear bombers appeared on the aircraft parking at the Engels airbase. But the Russians forgot to draw a shadow.
Next to the two drawings is a real aircraft Tu-95MS. It is protected by car tyres. We learnt about this method of protection of strategic aviation aircraft a few weeks ago.
How effective will be false targets in the form of drawings, it is difficult to say. Perhaps they will be difficult to recognise on low-resolution satellite images. On the other hand, drawings have not helped with radar reconnaissance.
