Sweden may soon approve deliveries of Saab JAS 39 Gripen fourth-generation fighters to Ukraine

We have already told you more than once that Sweden is considering the possibility of transferring Saab JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets to Ukraine. According to Politico, the country's government is approaching such a decision.

Here's What We Know

According to the report, Sweden began to seriously consider such an issue after Norway, Denmark, Belgium and the Netherlands announced that they would transfer F-16s to Ukraine. If the aircraft deliveries are still approved, analysts believe they could begin in at least a year. During this time, Sweden will be able to train pilots and aircraft maintenance personnel. By the way, Ukrainian pilots have already undergone familiarisation training with Swedish fighters.

Saab JAS 39 Gripen is a Swedish multirole fighter of the fourth generation. Its development is carried out by the Saab company. Work on the aircraft began in 1979. In 1988, the JAS 39 Gripen took to the skies for the first time. The fighter is in service with the Swedish Air Force. It is also used by the armies of the Czech Republic, Hungary, South Africa, Thailand and Brazil.
