We are talking about two aircraft. The ceremony of handing over the helicopters took place this Monday, 30 October. The first AW149s were delivered to the 7th Aviation Squadron, which is part of the 25th Air Cavalry Brigade of the Polish Army. By the way, Poland will purchase a total of 32 AW149 helicopters. The contract for deliveries was signed in 2022. Under this contract, the helicopters are produced at the Polish aircraft factory PZL Świdnik, which is part of the Leonardo Group. Deliveries of helicopters will continue until 2029.
Flashback
The AW149 is a multi-role military helicopter developed by AgustaWestland (now Leonardo). It was put into production in 2006. Leonardo promotes the AW149 as an alternative to the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk family of helicopters.
