Germany to transfer six Sea King Mk41 helicopters to Ukraine
Germany plans to supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine with Sea King helicopters in the Mk41 modification.
Here's What We Know
The information was shared by the German Defence Minister during a regular meeting of the contact group "Ramstein". We are talking about six decommissioned helicopters. Germany will also train pilots. There is no information yet when the supply of equipment will start. By the way, the AFU already has three Sea King helicopters in service. They were transferred to Ukraine by the UK in 2022-2023.
Flashback
Sea King was developed by the American company Sikorsky Aircraft, but the helicopter was also produced under licence in the UK. Germany received 22 Sea King Mk41 helicopters from Westland Helicopters in 1974. They were modernised in the 1980s. The German Army used the Sea King Mk41 for search and rescue, cargo transport, disaster relief, evacuation, reconnaissance and maritime support.
