Singapore's Ministry of Defence is ordering an additional batch of fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II fighter jets.

The information was shared by the Straits Times. We are talking about 8 aircraft in the F-35A modification. By the way, earlier Singapore announced the purchase of a batch of short takeoff and vertical landing aircraft F-35B.
The first deliveries of F-35A will begin in 2030. As for the F-35Bs, they will begin to be transferred to Singapore in 2026. The fifth-generation fighters will be the replacement for the F-16.

The F-35 Lightning II is the most modern serial fighter with a service life of 30 to 40 years. Its production is carried out by the American company Lockheed Martin. The fighter has stealth technology and is equipped with two air-to-air missiles, guided bombs and a 25 mm cannon. The F-35 Lightning II can fly up to 2,200 kilometres and reach speeds of up to 1,931 km/h.
