According to the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, since the beginning of 2024, Russian combat aircraft have dropped more than 3,500 bombs, which is 16 times more than in the same period last year.

Here's What We Know

Deputy Minister of Defence, Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, stressed that the increased activity of enemy aircraft poses a serious threat to Ukrainian positions on the front line and in the frontline areas. Over the past 77 days, Russian aircraft have used more than 3,500 bombs, which is 16 times more than in the same period last year.

The greatest threat is posed by corrected bombs equipped with a planning and correction module (PCM). Russian bombers and fighters can use these bombs at a distance of up to 40-50 kilometres from the front line, making themselves almost inaccessible to Ukrainian air defences.

Havryliuk believes that the F-16 fighter jet could solve the problem. However, ammunition stocks have now reached a critical level, and F-16s have not yet arrived in the country.
