Hackers stole $570 million from Binance exchange - the second largest theft of cryptocurrency since the beginning of 2022

Today we wrote about an ImmuneFi report that says fraudsters stole $428 million in the third quarter of 2022. But recently, hackers were able to steal about $150 million more at a time.

Here's What We Know

The cryptocurrency exchange Binance has once again suffered a cyber attack. Attackers stole $570 million in BNB cryptocurrency. Initially, it was reported that the exchange lost $110 million, but then it became known about a fivefold increase in damage.

Hackers were able to move BNB tokens offline thanks to a cross-chain bridge attack. Two million coins were stolen. Binance later stated that the network was operating normally and users' funds were safe. In addition, the company was able to freeze $7 million.

After the information about the hack, the value of the cryptocurrency BNB fell by more than 3%. The price of the coin in the morning of October 7 was $285. At the time of writing, the cryptocurrency has fallen in price by another $3.
