Investment firm Lunar Crush has announced that it will send a "treasure" to the moon in the form of a cryptocurrency wallet key containing bitcoins.

Details

LunarCrush will sell some of its NFT collections to buy bitcoins. The wallet will hold a total of 62 bitcoins, which is about $1.5 million at current exchange rates. That said, the wallet is open, meaning anyone will be able to add a certain amount to it to raise the stakes.

The code will be sent during the launch of the SpaceX rocket in autumn 2023. It will be engraved on board the probe that will be sent to the moon. The company assures that even its employees will not know the code, so no one will be able to crack the wallet.

The bitcoins are destined for the first person to reach the moon and find the key - a treasure hunt of sorts. In this way, LunarCrush wants to inspire and encourage people to make new discoveries.
