The US Department of Justice has announced the issuance of a warrant for the arrest of a Boeing 737-7EM aircraft of the Russian company Lukoil. The aircraft in question has the flight number VP-CLR and serial number 34865.

Here's What We Know

The United States is impounding the plane because of a violation of sanctions that were imposed on the Russian Federation by the US Department of Commerce. The Justice Department notes that the Boeing 737-7EM belonging the oil and gas corporation was flying to and from Russia, while US-made aircraft were not allowed to do so without a license.

The Boeing 737-7EM cost $45 million and is now in the Russian Federation. How the United States intend to confiscate the aircraft is not specified at the moment. For now several agencies are involved in this matter, including the Department of Commerce, FBI, Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
