The United States decided to expand sanctions against companies from the Russian Federation. A new blow has been struck against key chip manufacturers.

Here's What We Know

The Office of Foreign Assets Control blacklisted a Russian company called Aquarius, which develops, manufactures and supplies computer hardware. The U.S. Treasury Department will freeze assets and prohibit U.S. companies (and individuals) from dealing with Aquarius.

The Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List was expanded to include several more major firms from Russia. In particular, the U.S. imposed sanctions against processor developers MCST and Baikal Electronics. The first company produces Elbrus chips, while the second produces Baikal. Also on the "black list" there were Angstrem, Nucleus FAP Dubna, Element and Elvis. All of them are related to the development and/or production of printed circuit boards, security systems, microcircuits.
