Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will soon announce the start of construction of a new advanced enterprise for the production of chips in the United States. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Here's What We Know

The new plant will be built north of Phoenix, Arizona. The Taiwan giant plans to invest $12 billion in the creation of semiconductor production. Construction will begin in December of this year. The new company will produce advanced chips made according to the standards of 3-nm technology.

The expansion of semiconductor production can be seen as TSMC's long-term optimism about chip demand in the face of the turmoil that will hit the market in 2022. Despite the crisis in the industry, companies expect the semiconductor market to double in size in the next decade and be valued at more than $1 trillion.

The launch of mass chip production at the new Arizona plant is scheduled for 2024. The company, in addition to 3-nm chips, will produce chips using 5-nm and 4-nm processors.
