Analyst agency Canalys reported that smartphone shipments will only sag by 1 per cent in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the same period in 2022. Counterpoint, on the other hand, offers different figures.

Here's What We Know

According to Counterpoint, the market sagged not by 1%, but by 8% at once. The shipments of all leading manufacturers decreased compared to the third quarter of last year. Of the top five, Apple was the least affected (-9%), which took second place with a share of 16%.

Samsung continues to lead. The South Korean company controls 20% of the market, although year-on-year shipments fell by 13%. Xiaomi (-15%) closes the top three. The share of the Chinese company was 12%.

OPPO and vivo lost 10% and 14% respectively. The total shipments of smartphones of all other companies fell by 26% in the reporting period. Honor, Huawei and Transsion are the only firms that sold more devices than a year ago. However, this kept them out of the top five. Transsion, though, came in fifth in Canalys' ranking.
