Huawei continues to exist under US sanctions in an attempt to reduce the negative effects of them. One way to do this is through licence fees.

Here's What We Know

Huawei and Sharp have entered into a long-term cross-licensing agreement. This was announced on the Chinese company's official website. The concise press release contains official statements from both parties, made in the best traditions of the Communist Party.

The long-term cross-licensing agreement was entered into on 27 November 2023. It covers patents on cellular standards, including 4G and 5G.

Huawei's head of intellectual property Alan Fan said the agreement with the Japanese company was reached through amicable negotiations. It will facilitate easier cooperation on standardisation, recognising the firms' intellectual property.

The agreement was reached on fair and reasonable terms without discriminating against either party. The announcement was made by Mototaka Taneya, executive managing director of Sharp.
