Multi-brand strategy: HMD Global will launch Nokia smartphones alongside branded devices
We recently wrote that HMD Global was launching its own brand of devices. As it turned out, this does not mean that Nokia smartphones will disappear from the market.
Here's What We Know
According to the brand's official press release, HMD Global plans to stick to a multi-brand strategy. That is, the company will launch HMD and Nokia smartphones at the same time.
"Today is a great day for HMD as we move from being a licensee to a brand owner, which is a big step in our journey! This means you'll be able to see unique original HMD phones, the Nokia phones you've always loved, and some super exciting partnerships that we can't wait to tell you about. We're excited about the opportunities ahead, and I invite you all to follow the new pages of our development as they unfold. Your unwavering support fuels our commitment to excellence, and together we are telling an exciting story of innovation and progress," said Robert Seversky, CEO of HMD Global Eastern and Southern Europe.
Incidentally, the first HMD devices will debut at MWC 2024, which will take place at the end of February.
