Tim Cook tells employees that Apple is going on the hunt for leaks

Apple doesn't like its secrets to go public, so it goes without saying that the company really doesn't like leaks. This week, Apple CEO Tim Cook addressed employees leaking information to journalists with a pretty harsh message: you don't belong here, and we will find you.

According to a source, the Apple CEO was furious that two announcements he made at last week's general meeting, about the company's policy on unvaccinated employees who will have to take frequent COVID-19 tests, and about the Epic antitrust case against Apple, were leaked to the media shortly thereafter.

Cook's Reaction

In the email sent to Apple employees Tuesday, Cook said he heard from many employees how upset they were about the recent leaks about the general meeting. He, too, was upset. In addition, Cook noted that this occurred against the backdrop of leaks about the annual September product launch.

"Team communication opportunities are really important. But they only work if we can make sure the content stays inside Apple, "Cook wrote. "I want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to identify those who allowed the leak to occur. As you know, we do not tolerate the disclosure of sensitive information, whether it be product IP or details of a confidential meeting. We know that leaks occur among a small number of people. We also know that people who leak confidential information don't belong here."
