No change: Pixel 8 gets 12W wireless charging and won't support the Qi2 standard
We've written more than once that Google is working on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro smartphones. Now one of the new products has been spotted in the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) database.
Here's What We Know
We're talking about the base model of the Pixel 8. The smartphone comes with the model number GKWS6. According to the documents, the novelty will get wireless charging support with 12W power, just like the Pixel 7. Incidentally, it will be the old Qi standard, not Qi2. It was introduced recently. It's based on Apple's MagSafe charger.
As for other specifications, the novelty will also be equipped with a 6.16" OLED display with 120 Hz refresh rate. Apart from that, the device will get a Tensor G3 processor, 8/12GB of RAM, dual main camera and a battery of up to 4000mAh.
When We Can Expect It
The Pixel 8 will be unveiled in the fall. Incidentally, the smartphone is expected to be unveiled along with the Pixel Watch 2 smartwatch.
