Apple could add "monobrow" and Face ID to the MacBook and iMac

More than 6 years ago, Apple patented Face ID for its MacBook laptops. That was before Face ID was even on the iPhone. And now the company has received its second patent.

Here's What We Know

Patent documentation is written in official barely understandable language, and there is not much interesting in it. Simply put, it is a description of the implementation of the sensor for recognising the user's face on MacBook laptops and iMac computer.

The images show that for this purpose, MacBook and iMac will have a "monobrow" - a trademark cutout of the iPhone, where the sensors and front camera are located.

By the way, MacBook owners have been asking for this feature for laptops for a long time. But a few years ago, Apple representatives said that the best solution for laptops remains the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, so the company is not going to add Face ID.

Perhaps Apple's plans have changed in the meantime. However, the publication 9to5mac writes that it is definitely not worth waiting for a MacBook with Face ID in the near future, as there is a serious problem related to the thickness of the sensor. To install Face ID, Apple will have to increase the thickness of the laptop cover, resulting in an increase in its size and weight. Is Face ID worth it? I don't think so.
