Samsung may unveil a 440 MP ISOCELL HU1 sensor in 2024
A few years ago, the race of pixels in smartphone cameras began. It seems that Samsung has thoroughly decided to win it.
Here's What We Know
The 48-MP and 64-MP sensors were replaced by sensors with a resolution of 108 MP. They have been record-breakers for a long time. So far, the record resolution is 200 MP. However, already next year there will be a new leader.
Insider Revegnus reports about the plans of the South Korean company to release three ISOCELL sensors for smartphone cameras. The main novelty will be the ISOCELL HU1 image sensor. Its resolution will be 440 MP.
In addition to the ISOCELL HU1, Samsung may release 50 MP ISOCELL GN6 and 200 MP ISOCELL HP7 sensors. They will feature 1.6µm and 0.6µm pixels, respectively.
According to Revegnus, mass production of the sensors will be launched in the second half of 2024. The sensors are likely to debut in smartphones in 2025. It is possible that we will see ISOCELL HU1 with 440 MP resolution in Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
