The iPad Pro tablet was once seen as a potential successor to the Mac, but these gadgets now generate the least revenue among Apple's core segments. Next year, Apple wants to change this situation by releasing an updated iPad Pro.

Here's What We Know

If Bloomberg's Mark Gurman is to be believed, the iPad Pro is in for its biggest update in 5 years. There have been few changes to the tablets lately. The most attractive model in recent years has been the 10th-generation budget iPad, released last October. The iPad mini hasn't been updated in two years. And the iPad Pro hasn't seen any dramatic changes since 2018.

What to expect from the new iPad Pro? Mark writes that the next models are codenamed J717, J718, J720, and J721. They will be available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. That is, the screen diagonal of the largest model will increase by 0.1 inches.

Perhaps most importantly, the tablet will move to proprietary chips, in this case the M3. It will also be the first time Apple will use OLED displays, which have long been installed in smartphones. Such screens are sharper and brighter, and reproduce colours more accurately.

In addition, expect an updated Magic Keyboard with a larger trackpad. As a result, the iPad Pro will feel more like a laptop.

The new iPad Pro won't debut until next year - not until spring or early summer.
