The information was shared by our colleagues from 9to5Google. According to the source, the support period will be the same as the iPhone. That is, we are talking about five years of updates to the Android operating system. For comparison, the current Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones will receive only three major software updates.

If the information is confirmed, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will be the first Android devices with such a long period of support. For example, Samsung also promises to update its current flagships for five years, but of those, four years of OS updates and one year of security patches.
