When the stable version of macOS Sonoma will be released

Apple has been releasing new versions of macOS in late autumn for the past few years. It looks like macOS Sonoma may be released earlier this time.

Here's What We Know

Twitter user @iSWUpdates noticed that the seventh beta of macOS Sonoma has a build number ending in "a", while the seventh beta of macOS Ventura last year had a build number with an "f" at the end.

Usually build numbers ending with an earlier letter of the alphabet mean that beta testing is coming to an end. So it's safe to assume that macOS Sonoma will be released alongside iOS 16 and iPadOS 16 as early as this month.

Flashback

Apple showed off macOS 14 Sonoma at WWDC 2023 earlier this summer. The system got widget support, new video conferencing features, an updated Safari browser with work profiles and improved security, a game mode, and more.
