No iPhone 15 Ultra this year - Apple is keeping the iPhone 15 Pro Max after all
For a long time there have been rumours in the media that Apple will start using the Ultra prefix for the name of its top-end smartphone this year. The presentation will take place in just a few days, so Mark Gurman from Bloomberg decided to put the matter to rest.
Here's What We Know
Mark himself has previously said that Apple could release an iPhone 15 Ultra in 2023, similar to its secure Apple Watch Ultra. But now he says there won't be an iPhone 15 Ultra after all, and the Pro Max branding will last at least another year.
We will see four new products at the official presentation on 12 September: iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. There might be an iPhone 16 Ultra with a larger 6.9-inch display next year, but it's too early to tell.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max is expected to get an improved telephoto lens with 6x optical zoom (compared to 3x zoom on the iPhone 14 Pro models), a titanium frame, A17 Bionic processor, Wi-Fi 6E support and a price starting at $1199. That is, the smartphone will be $100 more expensive than the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
