Xiaomi is working on releasing new software, and we're not exactly talking about MIUI 15. Perhaps the next firmware will be called MiOS.

Here's What We Know

MIUI appeared in 2010 and during this time managed to gather an impressive user base (more than 560 million people). After 12 years, the Chinese company may abandon this name and replace it with MiOS.

It is possible that Xiaomi will go the way of Huawei and release its own operating system, rather than a shell over Android. Although you need to realise that HarmonyOS is based on Android Open Source Project code, meaning it supports all apps created for Android.

The latest version of MIUI was announced at the end of last year. It is called MIUI 14. The presentation of the next generation software is expected in the coming weeks. Therefore, we will learn more about MiOS soon. By the way, Xiaomi has registered both the MiOS trademark and the domain mios.cn.
