Xiaomi smartphones with unlocked bootloader will not receive OTA updates of HyperOS operating system
Xiaomi has no plans to give users the option to quickly unlock the bootloader. This practice will continue in the HyperOS operating system as well.
Here's What We Know
Bootloader unlocking will continue to be disabled by default. The company believes that this will be able to ensure the security of smartphones and avoid leaks. If desired, the user can unlock the bootloader. To do so, you need to submit a request on the Xiaomi forum.
Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are the first smartphones to get HyperOS. Only active users of Xiaomi's Chinese forum can apply for bootloader unlocking. If approved, the company issues a permit for three devices, which is valid for a year.
Details regarding the procedure for the international market will be announced after the release of the global version of HyperOS. But it is already known that after unlocking the bootloader, smartphones will not receive OTA updates.
