Among Android smartphone manufacturers, the design with a selfie camera cut into the screen is quite popular. But it seems that such a design has interested not only them, but also Apple.

Here's What We Know

According to insider information, the company has prototypes of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max with neat cameras located right in the display. But the source immediately clarifies that it is unlikely to count on their release.

Firstly, Apple only last year began using the Dynamic Island cutout instead of "fringes". It debuted in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, and has now spread to all models of the iPhone 15 lineup. It's unlikely that Apple will change the design again after just a couple of launches - it's certainly not its style.

Secondly, a much bigger issue is Face ID. The embedded camera increases the display area, but it leaves no room for the numerous sensors needed for accurate facial recognition. The manufacturer can hide these sensors under the screen, but this may negatively affect their functionality.

Therefore, despite the presence of prototypes, this design is unlikely to get into mass production. But it is possible that the updated notches will get Phone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max in 2025.
